In Chapter Two, I allude to Tyler’s Heart Condition and it is sporadically mentioned throughout Fallen Through. I hope, as a reader, you are inclined to believe that if one of the main protagonists are to die, that it would be Tyler and that it is due to his pre-existing heart condition where he stresses that it is likely he won’t make it to the age of 30.
Furthermore, I hope that I lead reader’s to believe that if Tyler and Adeline aren’t meant to be together, that it’s because of “fate” and an unfortunate illness that separates them. However, it’s not his heart condition that kills Tyler, it’s addiction that eventually does.
Although this detail about the character is true, I use it as a way to distract the readers so that they don’t see Tyler’s real demise coming, and it will be a case of “what if” as to whether his heart condition had anything to do with the drug overdose.
