It’s almost as if that by getting to the tricky end of the story, it’s caused an abundance of memories to resurge. But, another long forgotten song that once meant something to us has slithered its way back into my brain.
On our second trip, we did go camping. But first, we decided to walk to the beach, which is always going to hold a special place in my heart. On the way, I started singing this to him. I can’t exactly recall what caused me to break out into song as we were walking along the footpath, but I did, and he had the goofiest grin on his face. Maybe we’d had a little too much to drink at brunch, or there was this angelic and magnetic energy between us that made it so easy to just be with each other. It was rare.
Alas, almost everything broke down between us right afterward, but when you look back and squint at what we had, it was almost perfect. But he got tired of squinting.
