I can remember this night as clear as day and there was so much that was left unsaid. There were many ways that we expressed our love without directly admitting it to each other, but we definitely felt it.
In the way that he offered me his jacket when I was shivering from the cold, or how I protected him when the officers pulled up by hiding him in the shadows and remaining calm… We knew we loved each other and there was this shared fear and excitement, and all of these emotions running through us… We often spoke about how we wanted to say it that night but couldn’t quite find the right moment.
I guess we hadn’t quite made our minds up yet but there was something special between us that was extrapolating at an explosive rate. I knew I’d impressed all of his friends with the initiation test and that I was approved of and a part of his world. At the time, it was one of the best nights of my life.. And it still wasn’t over yet.
