Chapter Twenty-Four

Stay – Mayday Parade

Well, we are officially halfway through our Musical Pairing series, and I’d say this is the turning point. We’ve built our castle filled with relationships, foreshadowing, event details and planted seeds, and it’s time to start tearing it down.

I probably say this every blog post, but I do remember this conversation, and I still actually don’t know if Tyler slept with her or not. For plot purposes, I decided to make it ambiguous for now, but I’m still not 100% certain in my real life. I feel so foolish for forgiving him based on what eventually happened.

Stay by Mayday Parade is a fitting song allocated to this chapter. I believe it indicates the turning point of Falling Through, and the desperation Tyler starts to feel when his control starts to slip. His immaturity shows when he almost immediately lies to Della after begging for forgiveness; he knows and admits that he’s wrong, but is powerless to change it as he’s addicted—and us, the audience, realise that.

Now, we get to watch him destroy everything and everyone he loves. Let the fireworks begin.
