Last Hope – Paramore
I’d like to start by saying this was a very tricky chapter to allocate a song to, and it took a lot of time to pair. I read this part of Fallen Through over and over, and I’ve found that this is where Della starts to trust the process and believe in herself and her relationship. She blindly trusts Tyler despite him giving her reason not to, and sees a shift in how they’ve dealt with their problems.
Della’s mental health has taken an upwards swing and she feels secure in herself and what she’s built with Tyler. It’s apparent in her mannerisms, her dialogue and thoughts that she’s made a lot of progress and is putting her best foot forward.
Della’s also doing her best to help Tyler, who she can see is struggling, and reaches out to Matthew in an attempt to resolve their problems. I actually used this conversation, word for word, that I had in the past with the real Matthew, which is a fun fact! Same as with the texting dialogue between Tyler and Della in Chapter Eight. I’ve got to stick to the source material, right?
