Video Games – Lana Del Ray
Another week and another chapter covered on this musical pairings journey. I struggled again this week finding a song to complement this chapter as it focuses less on our love story but more on what happened between Tyler and Michael.
I do remember the night in question in grave detail and Tyler was extremely traumatised. We were playing Overwatch when the plan to confront Iris was established and I remember feeling so opposed to it but I didn’t want to push that opinion too hard. I was still trying to make a good impression on his friends and I knew Evan already thought I was a bit prudish.
Though I remember Tye’s reaction afterwards and he was so torn when his plan backfired and he ultimately lost Matthew… He was so vulnerable and broken that night and I truly had nothing to give him. I didn’t know how to make it better, but I knew how to love him.
Video Games’ really does express that love without directly saying it to him. Being on the cusp of admission and wanting to tell him in a raw moment but holding yourself back because it’s not time. But through the good and hard times, heaven is still a place on Earth with you. And without you, maybe it’s nowhere to be found.
