Angels – Mayday Parade.
This was one of the only songs I knew what chapter this would be paired with. I remember discovering this song in the middle of the night when I overheard my sister listening to it.
The lyrics “When all I remember is talking is cheap and the lies were expensive. And God only knows when I’ll come to my senses.” I was sold and immediately found the song and listened to it on repeat for days.
This is a very clear cut reference to the prologue, except this time it’s from Tyler’s perspective, and it is shocking that this exchange occurs with only two chapters of the novel remaining.
This is how I imagined our phone call to have gone down had I actually answered and found out about the past couple of years and what had happened to him over the past few years.
I’ll always wonder what would’ve happened and if I turned away my one chance at closure. But I found it on my own. Without him.
